Hello Ken,

I see your point. I have not put "Web Links" of any sort in the left hand column, I usually preserve it for rss feeds, photos, podcasts, and videos.

However, it is just as easy to add a balloon using "Web Links with more information" in addition or not to just a few words about the website underneath, if you think the link warrants it. Using "Web Links with more information" will give you the opportunity of adding a description at another time (if called for)without having to delete the entire box and then reenter all the information.

I guess my point is that "Web Links with more information" can do everything that "Simple Web Links" can but with more useful options and tools.

Cheers,
Mick

Hi Mick -

I have to say I disagree with you about the Simple Web Link boxes. I like them a lot, especially for the left-hand columns where link boxes with descriptions get very long, very fast. I find the rollover for descriptions aesthetically pleasing, even elegant, and I think users discover they're there readily enough.

One of my goals with guides is to make as much information as possible visible without scrolling. Simple Web links helps with that -- again, especially in the left-hand column -- without burying the descriptions.
